Efficiency Manitoba Rebate Program
A long awaited rebate program has returned to Manitoba and it couldn’t come at a better time. After the success of the last program which ended in 2018, Manitobans have been anxiously waiting for this new program to help them align their goals to reduce their carbon footprint. As of August 18,2022 Efficiency MB will begin offering $0.50 per watt rebate for Manitoba homeowners and businesses when they install their solar PV system with a registered Efficiency Manitoba supplier, Like VIBES ENERGY.
Residential systems up to 10kW and business systems up to 50kW are eligible for rebates through the program. The rebate programs are capped at $5000 per home and $25 000 per business, however, customers are welcome to install systems above the capped amount.
Please note ** rebates cannot exceed the material costs of the solar PV system.**
Residential Homeowners Energy Rebate
Program pre-approval is not required for residential customers before purchasing or installing their new solar PV system. Residential solar PV systems installed on or after April 1, 2022, are eligible for rebates if the homeowner and their solar PV system meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
For solar PV systems installed between April 1, 2022 and August 18, 2022, applications must be submitted within 90 days after August 18, 2022.
Energy Rebate For Business
Businesses must receive pre-approval from Efficiency Manitoba before purchasing or installing their new solar PV system. Businesses can apply for rebate pre-approval once they have received interconnection approval from Manitoba Hydro and a project quote we will prepare for you.
Who is eligible:
Homeowners eligibility:
- the solar PV system was installed on or after April 1, 2022 and is connected to Manitoba Hydro’s grid
- their name is on the Manitoba Hydro account, and they have an active Manitoba Hydro account for the property
- the home is their or their tenant’s primary residence and is occupied year-round, and has been occupied for the last 12 months
- the home is heated year-round
- the home is a single-detached home, semi-detached home, mobile home on a permanent foundation, duplex, triplex, or fourplex with its own meter; and
- the solar PV system meets program’s eligibility criteria.

Businesses eligibility:
- the solar PV system received pre-approval from Efficiency Manitoba after August 18, 2022;
- they’re the business owner or designated representative of the building;
- the building has its own meter and an active Manitoba Hydro account;
- they’re an existing Manitoba Hydro customer eligible for Manitoba Hydro’s commercial general service electricity rates and commercial service natural gas rates;
- the building is currently occupied and has been occupied for the last 12 months;
- new buildings must have been occupied for at least one year before installing the solar PV system. Buildings with new additions qualify if they have an existing meter; and
- once installed, the solar PV system must be connected to Manitoba Hydro’s grid.

Not only can you receive $5000 towards your 10kW residential system, you can combine the Efficiency Manitoba Rebate program with the Canada Greener Homes Grant for an additional $5000 towards your system. That is a massive savings of TEN THOUSAND dollars towards your new system. Additionally financing is available through the Canada Greener Homes loan program and Mantioba Hydro’s home Energy Efficiency program.
